Mission Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in instrument penetration and precision/nonprecision approaches.
  2. Introduce advanced handling maneuvers/exercises.
  3. Practice mission tasks listed below.

Specific Mission Tasks:

1. Takeoff
2. G-awareness turns
3.* Advanced handling
       a. Break turn exercise/accelerated stall
       b. Reversals (loaded and unloaded)
       c. High AOA flight
       d. Acceleration maneuver
       e. Turning performance exercise (pitch/slice)
       f. Low-speed stability demonstration/low-speed dive recovery
      g. High-speed dive recovery
      h. Single-ship jink exercise (fuel permitting)
4. Penetration
5. Precision approach
6. Nonprecision approach
7. Normal landing
8. Emergency patterns/landings

Special Instructions:

  1. May be flown as a two-ship to the training area. Only one instrument approach is required. The second may be carried forward as an unaccomplished task. Demo pro will be required. The emphasis will be on single-ship advanced handling.
  2. Fly at least one HUD-out instrument approach on this sortie. Two HUD-out instrument approaches are required by graduation.
