Mission Objectives: Introduce normal operations and checklist procedures

Training Tasks:

 

Ground Training:

  1. Briefing (30 minutes)
    • Overview of ground operation procedures and objectives.
    • Review of aircraft systems and controls relevant to ground operations.
    • Discuss pre-flight checks, including fuel, weight and balance, and systems checks.
    • Emphasize safety protocols, including avoiding rotor wash and maintaining situational awareness around the aircraft.
    • Review taxiing procedures, including communication with ground control and crew coordination.

Flight Training:

  1. Flight Objectives (90 minutes)
    • Conduct pre-flight checks on the aircraft, ensuring all systems are operational.
    • Execute the following ground operations:
      • Taxi Procedures:
        • Taxi the aircraft following designated routes safely and efficiently, maintaining awareness of surroundings.
        • Communicate effectively with ground control for taxi instructions and clearances.
        • Demonstrate proper use of brakes, rotor engagement timing, and smooth transitions during taxiing.
      • Warm-up Operations:
        • Practice engine systems check while on the ground, and monitor system indications.
        • Conduct an engine run-up as part of pre-flight checks.
      • Takeoff Preparation:
        • Complete final checks before takeoff, ensuring readiness for flight.
        • Execute final crew briefings, discussing roles for takeoff and initial climb procedures.
      • Perform takeoff and transition into flight operations, applying knowledge from ground procedures.

Post-Flight Training:

  1. Debriefing (30 minutes)
    • Review the execution of ground operations against established objectives.
    • Discuss performance during taxiing, including any challenges faced or safety considerations.
    • Evaluate communication proficiency with ground control and crew during ground operations.
    • Provide feedback on adherence to safety protocols and overall situational awareness.

Special Instructions: GROUND TRAINING ONLY FOR UPT-H PILOTS.

Should a proper H-60 Module be made, UPT-H pilots may be allowed to perform checklist procedures while a qualified IP flies.
